Beach Cottage

07/11/2017 By Sarah 1 Comment

I’ve got that summer feeling. The days are longer, the nights are sweeter, the mornings fresh and cool before the sun comes up. I live for the summertime, when my skin can soak up all the vitamin D and I get that healthy glow.

If you’re ever in Orange County, I recommend stopping by the low-key but kinda famous Crystal Cove Beach Cottages. What was once a beach shack civilization for an odd assortment of families, was built literally from driftwood and spare odds and ends found washed ashore and from demolished buildings. It was used several times as film sets, portraying places like Hawaii and other tropical islands. And you can’t help but feel like you’ve walked into a quaint movie scene when wandering around the little hideaway. I’ve always enjoyed coming here and exploring a little more each time, finding new corners to admire. You can even rent cottages or rooms for a fair price, however you will have to book up months in advance because this place is pretty adored by it’s locals and visitors.

You can grab an amazing bite to eat at the restaurant, or hit up the ice cream/food shack at the top of the cliff. It’s the perfect getaway for the day or weekend!

Head to the bottom of this post for outfit details!

Mon Paradis

07/06/2017 By Sarah 3 Comments

Over the 4th of July weekend, we decided to have a Stay-Cation and hit up the adorable local Crystal Cove Beach Cottages on Monday, and then stayed home to Grill N’ Chill (is this a saying yet? Cause it should be!) on Tuesday. We lounged on our newly built back deck behind the Airstream with a view of the canyon, munching on cheese and sipping Bellinis while trying to soak up as much sun as possible. Then we hit the pool here at our canyon retreat (which we had to ourselves and our Pomeranian/child) for the most refreshing swim!

It was one of the first times I can remember taking a real Stay-cation and treating ourselves as if it were vacation (no work/photos involved!). I think I was happily in Wine Bliss all day… (is Wine Bliss a phrase too?) and spent the entire day outside. I never feel more refreshed and rejuvenated after spending an entire day in the fresh air and sunshine. It does something to my body and soul- for sure refills my lack of Vitamin D, and cleanses my mind. I highly recommend taking a ME Day and spending it outside- in the shade if you have to. Sip on your favorite drinks and eat your favorite things. Read or listen to music or hang out with your friend/partner. It’s feels, to me, as good as getting away on a real vacation. Because… Vacation is really just a state of mind, ins’t it?
