SS 2018 Trend Forecast

03/05/2018 By Sarah Leave a Comment

Sarah Loven's 2018 Trend Forecast

I may not have tabs on every trend from every style out there, but being so intertwined with the fashion industry gives me some advantages that I really love! One being seeing the arrival of new trends and styles, and seeing which take hold and become popular.

One must remember, micro trends are one thing, but a real trend will be around longer than one season. If it was starting to catch fire last year, then it’ll probably be back and better than ever this year. So having a keen sense of what trends seem likely to be revisited, and pairing that with where the fashion world is headed for upcoming seasons, is important when it comes to predicting the Trend Forecast.

To me, it’s a little like an art, and I get all excited when I see ideas I fall in love with appearing here and there. And I just get that feeling like… YES! That’s what I want to be wearing all summer this year! That’s when you know this is going to be a huge trend.

So, without further adieu, here is my personal Trend Forecast for 2018, starting with each season, and covering some specific styles that don’t necessarily pertain to seasons (especially if you live in a climate like LA where your wardrobe lives through multiple seasons). I hope you are as excited about these trends as I am!

Fall Style Guide – River Island

10/30/2017 By Sarah 2 Comments

During my Fashion Week outfit planning, I perused the River Island store like crazy, gathering inspiration for looks inspired by European cities and the latest fashion trends. I put together a style guide for myself, which inspired a few of my FW looks, which you might recognize! The rest I keep in a file on my computer, and refer to when I feel inspired to style up some new looks for the blog.

Fall is one of those season where I love to experiment with layering. And my personal style sort of shifts from year to year, so each time Autumn rolls around, I’m ready to try all new looks. This season I’m so inspired by classic chic looks from across the decades, from all across Europe. The look above, which I wore to Paris Fashion Week, reminds me of the sassy classic style of vintage Milan, while hitting the mark with today’s trends. Other looks are inspired by iconic fashion and celebrity moments, and some from my personal fashion inspirations today.

I’ve been so happy with my personal style lately, so I’m excited to share some complete styled looks for you to try out this fall. All of which are fully compiled of River Island pieces, and can be shopped on their online store for very reasonable prices!

SS18 Trend Alert: Bra Straps

10/28/2017 By Sarah 1 Comment

At Paris Fashion Week I was exposed to some of the upcoming trends for next year, and there’s one I find intriguing and have already been experimenting with.

What used to be a fashion no-no has become a new fashion statement. I believe it’s thanks to the latest Dior bralette with the signature wife white straps with black text that garnered a new appreciation for bra straps. And area of clothing that was usually shunned and avoided.

With bra straps exposed (or even the whole bra, if you’re brace enough), I tackled the trend and figured out the right vs. wrong way to do it…

Tip: not any bra with straps goes with any outfit.

Showing your straps takes just as much styling as an accessory. You want to:

1. Coordinate colors- sticking with neutrals or black & white usually has the best success.

2. Decide on what kind of top- off the shoulders are the easiest, but you can look at all your tops with interesting necklines and sleeves/straps to start your styling process.

3. Decide on what kind of straps- not all bra straps are pretty enough to show! If you want to remain looking out together and not just lazy, choose a bra with unique and clean straps. Experiment with wide straps vs. skinny, black vs. white, lace vs. solid. Think of it not only as layering, but like how you would even style a necklace (length vs. neckline).

Even showing a peek at the top of your bra (bustier fit being recommended) adds a little sensual elegance that reminds me of corset and gown days.

What’s important, is the straps or bra should look like part of your outfit, and NOT a careless accident. I think it can look so chic when done right! See some PFW photos below if you need further convinced.

If you are as excited about this new trend as I am, check out the interesting bras you can shop below to get the perfect jump start on this trend! I know I won’t be waiting till spring, as I think this trend could look adorable under sweaters too!

Top Selection of Trendy Fall Boots. PS- they’re cheap!

10/21/2017 By Sarah 3 Comments

I’ve been recently working with the company Light in the Box and styled some of their purses and shoes in Paris, which happen to be some of my favorite accessories this season! As I was selecting new items from them for fall, I found SO many cute boots on trend! There were more than I could take home with me, so I decided I just had to share these with you in a dedicated blog post! The best thing about these boots? They’re amazing quality, and SO affordable!

Sometimes we need to spruce up our typical fall wardrobe, because it’s so easy to lazily slip into the same old wardrobe pieces we wear every year. I’m a huge fan of change for fall, featuring something a little newer, and something unique that you won’t see everyone wearing. These boots are 100% on trend, and basically I can give you first hand styling advice right here!
