la perspective

01/17/2017 By Sarah 2 Comments

Lost in a moment of thought… I took a break from social media. It was meant to be a few days in order to finish the re-brand of the new blog, but it turned into 2 weeks of no posting. No stalking my social media notifications. No hand cramps from living on my iPhone. No headaches over what’s going on in the Instagram world. It was equal parts good and bad, as I was going absolutely insane from not creating new content and interacting with people. That is a part of my daily routine, which has been my life this last year.

But within a week, I got over it. I got focused on the new projects we were queuing up for release. And I found some spare time to explore some of my old passions- like writing. I miss writing. I opened a door into my past and spent a night reading all of my old poetry. I got a glimpse of the person I was when I was young… 18 seems so young now when I get to peer into my thoughts from so many years ago. Gosh, I’m only 26, but it put some perspective on how my perspective has changed!

One night, in a fit of passion, I made a secret Instagram account. (This was recently, by the way.) I made it to post my writing, to give me  some outlet for my creativity without the pressure of pleasing people. Right now it’s a little empty, but my goal is to populate it with inspiring snippets of prose and poetry when I get some free time back. I don’t know if I’ll share that account, but maybe some of the words will make their way onto the blog, or even my Instagram account. They should, in this new year- this new chapter for my work. I’m opening up many more windows, and sharing more facets of my self. It’s inspiring to let my creativity go wild and see where it takes me.

Minimaliste

Sarah Loven wears Verge Girl

Nothing like a little black dress to make you feel more confident. Personally, I like LBD’s for days when I want to be chic and comfy simultaneously, which can be a difficult achievement. Tee shirt dresses make a good layering piece for that model off duty look. Pair with faux fur and some kickass statement pumps, and you’re right as rain.

Lately I’m feeling those classic looks from the 50’s-60’s. From the vintage silhouettes, to solid color block or prints. It’s a little bit minimal, a little bit modern. Somewhere between retro and classic. Whatever it is, I’m definitely going all in on this style. What fun is fashion if you don’t try new (or old) things, right?

Mod Mood

01/15/2017 By Sarah 1 Comment

Mod was a style I was obsessed with as a kid. From bouffant hair-do’s, to twiggy eyelashes, and my ultra fav- the Go Go Boot. You can thank my parents for restricting my television watching to mostly old classics, I Dream of Jeanie being the one to blame here, specifically. I remember talking about Mod to my friends, who had no idea what this was. Even early on in the internet days, I used to Google this “Mod” style, and even the WWW didn’t seem to know much about it. I thought maybe I made up the word, and dropped the topic before I embarrassed myself anymore.

Flash forward to late 2016, when I’m revisiting some of the old styles I was always inspired by. Lately everything has been tying together in my personal wardrobe: French street style (classic and chic, but never overdone), victorian French details ( a little bit of luxury), retro style (for some attitude), aaaaaand le Mod Mode. I’m in the mood to be Mod, and I don’t care who knows it. Start off with the feminine trench coat, á la Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and polish the 60’s style off with a little pouf to your hair and some Go Go Boots. We all know velvet is a hard hitter this season, so Public Desire has been my go-to brand for shoes and boots.

I’m always a sucker monochrome, and I match probably more than I should. But pastels for winter is the name of my game, and I went pink on pink like nobody’s business. That soft mauve-y tone is my favorite for taking neutral to the next level. Check out all the outfit details at the bottom of the post!

Skinfix

01/01/2017 By Sarah Leave a Comment

Hello babes! I’m popping by from my hiatus to share with you something I’ve currently come to love! And that thing is Skinfix!

I know I’ve been MIA after NYE. But I haven’t been taking a vacation. Instead, I’ve been working every day and late nights on some exciting new projects, one of which is about to launch any day now! That being said, my skin is taking a major beating with all the lack of sleep. It’s been pretty much non-stop since NYE night, so when Skinfix reached out to me, I was very interested in their Brightening Eye Cream. I was also excited when they surprised me with their Moisture Boost Serum and Lip Repair Balm.

Here’s what I have to say about these products…!

First 3 days trying Moisture Boost Serum and Brightening Eye Cream… I was in love! I’m not kidding you when I say the skin on my face became soft as a baby’s bottom. I noticed a shrink in my pore size, which gave a much smoother feel and appearance to my face. The eye cream did as it promised, and added a bit of life back to my dark under eye shadows. It sort of filled them out and brightened them. I did notice some skin sensitivity under my eyes when using both morning and night- all you need is the tiniest little dab of cream, and you must rub it in very gently, as this area of your face is delicate skin. My advice would be to apply only the tiniest amount when you have dark circles, first thing in the morning. And give it a little time before applying makeup! The Moisture Boost Serum played nicely with my skin, and smells like fresh cucumbers. But I also noticed some skin sensitivity when applying it, and then applying any other product with fragrance after. So, a big plus for the ultra smooth skin, but I’d definitely avoid using multiple products with fragrance added on your face. Or space them out through the day.

As for the Lip Repair Balm, it’s totally on the top of my list for dry lip solutions. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can never find a chapstick or balm that doesn’t actually dry out my lips more. This Balm didn’t give me that problem, so I vote yes and call it a keeper.

Altogether, Skinfix products have treated me much nicer than a lot of other products have, so I definitely recommend! Just keep in mind that your skin is a sponge, so be aware of what products you layer up on! If you have weird skin symptoms, it may be just from strong product combinations. When that happens, stop using everything and introduce only one product at a time to see how your skin handles it. This Moisture Boots Serum is a good one to start with!

XOXO
