Tuileries

05/08/2017 By Sarah 3 Comments

It was one of those perfect days in Paris. We stopped for coffee and croissants at Paul on Rue de Buci, picked up some fresh flowers around the corner, and then headed to the Tuileries to picnic by the fountain. Rue de Buci is one of those magical spots off Boulevard St. Germain, right around the corner from Cafe de Flore. There is a little basket shop there, where I got my french market basket that everyone loves! Now if you go to Paris you’ll know exactly where to get your Parisian basket, because they’re surprisingly hard to find!

This was a Saturday, and one of the first sunny days of spring in Paris. So everyone was out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather. The breeze blew, the birds chirped, and a parade marched jubilantly down the crowded street for no apparent reason. Yeah, that happened! The hustle and bustle of the happy people, coming in and out of Paul for croissants et cafes, added a cheerful excitement to the air. Everyone was smiling. The outdoor cafe tables were filled to the brim with those grabbing lunch and socializing.

When we got to le jardins de Tuileries, it was packed as well. Which made it a little crazy trying to snap some photos for the blog, on top of the gusts of spring wind. But we managed to keep my hat from blowing into the pond, and enjoy the sun as it hit that magical spot for golden hour. These are the glorious moments everyone was there to enjoy, pulling up those oh-so coveted chairs to sit with friends and socialize for some hours. And one amazing thing I noticed, was I didn’t see any cell phones out during this time! That’s the things about Parisians… they take their social down time VERY seriously. It’s an huge part of their way of life. I found it soooo genuine and refreshing, hearing happy chatter around me and people, from teen to adult, just out to enjoy life and the moment. That’s something I finally started getting the hang of while in Paris. I miss it a lot.

Here in the sunshine state, I found a never-ending field of golden grass. Naturally it called for packing some essentials up into a french basket, donning something twirl worthy, and frolicking around in said field. I wanted to style a french country chic look for this shoot, and this was look number 2. (First look will be coming to the blog shortly as well!)

One of my recent favorite brands, since wearing their clothes in Paris, is Flair the Label! I’m always so happy with their designs that are somewhere between minimal and chic. Just what the French style calls for- effortlessly put together. Casual but perfect. You can’t go wrong with their pieces, especially this 2 piece polka dot set! I’ve gotten so many compliments on it!

Stay tuned for look number 2 from this golden day, as well as more Flair the Label looks from my Paris days!

Moi Je Joue

Here’s a little snippet from my day shooting for Brandy Melville in Paris! While Cammy was photographer for Brandy, Josh snapped some candids for the blog and captured a ton of beautiful video footage!

This was in a pretty little alley way that is one of my favorite spots from the day. I felt very Brigitte Bardot in the off the shoulder crop and vintage Levi’s. And since shooting this look, I’ve become obsessed with finding more Levi’s to experiment styling.

As I mentioned in my post, Summer Trends to Obsess Over, I shared how I styled these little black Franco Sarto shoes and this BeBe purse for most of my time in Paris! I packed way more than I needed (a girl has to have her options!), but ended up keeping it simple and petite, for the ease of all the city walking that we did. And when I needed to bring extra outfits for shooting, I packed my trusty french basket tote up and just put my purse in it!

My time in France really did give me a new reasons to experiment with my personal style, and I feel like I was able to express myself in new ways through styling and photography. I can’t wait to go back again soon for more exploring of this magical city!

Nouvelle Vague

05/01/2017 By Sarah Leave a Comment

Lately I’ve been looking for new music that feels like some of my old favorites. I’m so picky about what I listen to, so all my playlists are carefully curated. I don’t want my mood to be altered too dramatically by what I’m listening to, especially if I’m spending the day working or just chilling. The genre I always come back to is New Wave. Some of my new wave favs make me feel nostalgic, while also feeling new every time I listen to them. There’s something about being able to revisit old songs that have good memories associated with them, but don’t seem to grow old with each new music trend. It’s timeless, and I feel that in the music.

So I spent a few days on the hunt for new (and old) tunes that reminded me of my favs, and put together an all new playlist for myself. I figured I should share it with you as well, because these songs are perfect for spring! New season, new music. Hope you like!
