You’re So Gucci

This has been my uniform this winter. Leave it to chance to happen upon the prettiest and comfiest sweater I’ve ever owned, one day while walking around LA. (It’s only $20 from H&M!) As one who never owned many pairs of pants, I’ve been collecting every kind of black leather pants I can find, in every texture and fit. These River Island pants go up to my belly button, which to me, is basically the most important thing a pair of pants can have. I don’t know if it’s me being lazy, or just a mega fan of this look, but I recycle it over and over lately. Changing out the sweater or shoes or hat for something similar. But the black pants… those are so model-off-duty, one really can’t go wrong. I highly recommend. I probably wear some version of these every day of the week, and I’m forgetting how to style anything else. Well… maybe it’s just because I don’t want to!!

I get asked about this sweater everywhere I go, though. So I vote it’s a winner! It’s perfect for winter and early spring, as Wool fabric is a type of cloth made with animal hair for retaining body heat. It has always been one of the most expensive materials with exclusive properties. The luxury of wool is still perceived as the sign of high social status, while remaining ultra cozy! Perfect for chic, luxe, street style looks.

As for the River Island heels, I’ll take furry shoes anytime. With a little sparkle, please.

Sarah Loven for Vayü Jewels

One of our latest projects was to create a campaign for Vayü Jewels. We shot on location one bright and hazy evening on the beach and among the cottages of Crystal Cove. The mist from the ocean filled the air and golden hour shone through it, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The deep blue skies created such a wonderland as the backdrop for this shoot, it was not difficult to make this a magical campaign.

Black on White

I love a good layered outfit. This is one I’ve been waiting to shoot and I love the balance of simplicity and detail within this look. Sometimes you keep it simple, but by adding textured fabric, or accessories with a little gold detail, the look is easily elevated.

I keep reverting to black and white outfits. Maybe it means I find comfort in the balance, and confidence in the base colors. To me, black and white together are so chic and aesthetically pleasing, one could style endless b&w looks. I feel like that’s what I’ve been doing lately, and though spring is here and I will be shifting back into more color, I know I’ll be experimenting with how to make black and white a summery combo.

SS 2018 Trend Forecast

I may not have tabs on every trend from every style out there, but being so intertwined with the fashion industry gives me some advantages that I really love! One being seeing the arrival of new trends and styles, and seeing which take hold and become popular.

One must remember, micro trends are one thing, but a real trend will be around longer than one season. If it was starting to catch fire last year, then it’ll probably be back and better than ever this year. So having a keen sense of what trends seem likely to be revisited, and pairing that with where the fashion world is headed for upcoming seasons, is important when it comes to predicting the Trend Forecast.

To me, it’s a little like an art, and I get all excited when I see ideas I fall in love with appearing here and there. And I just get that feeling like… YES! That’s what I want to be wearing all summer this year! That’s when you know this is going to be a huge trend.

So, without further adieu, here is my personal Trend Forecast for 2018, starting with each season, and covering some specific styles that don’t necessarily pertain to seasons (especially if you live in a climate like LA where your wardrobe lives through multiple seasons). I hope you are as excited about these trends as I am!
