I’m so excited to finally release the first of many blog posts from our Sunset Road campaign, and one of my favorites… Somewhere in the Catalina Mountains, an old house is hidden away, a secret treasure. It was the gallery and home of the artist Ettore Degrazia. Inside it is full of his work and the walls are colored by his murals. Everything is raw and textured. He built the house by hand, and he and his sculptress lover made it a place of beauty and mystery.
Our Sunset Road adventures for Spell were a whirlwind of colorful places. When I was doing major research and location scouting, this beauty came up and I couldn’t believe it was in the US. It’s aura was of a different time and place, somewhere rich with history.
I knew right away I wanted to photograph the vibrant purple of Spell’s new collection against the oversized cactus garden. The pop of color against the neutral earthy tone made my heart flutter a little, like I was part of a painting. The serene golden light caressed everything around us and the moment was too good to be true. I wish I could have lived in the rustic adobe house, it was so calming and natural. Definitely inspiration for a future home when the time comes to set down roots. But for now, we are rootless and wandering.
Stay tuned for the next Sunset Road posts, with exclusive images, only here on the Ready Gypset Go blog!
