Today is the first page of a new chapter, how will your story go?Let me start by saying that 2013 was full of self discovery and unexpected twists and turns. I never expected to fall so in love with expressing myself via fashion the way I have through this blog, as new as it is.
As a photographer, I’ve had an ongoing love for capturing people in photographs. In the last year, I really developed my portfolio and experience shooting strictly fashion, wether it was more lifestyle or leaned toward high fashion. But my bohemian lifestyle and outlook on life started to shape me and my work, and my style swayed a little, back and forth between lifestyle inspired by the simple beauty around me, and cultural fashion inspired by the west coast. I became more and more interested in sharing my style, life, and who I am with the world.
I have always had a deep love for looking back at memories that seem to shine brighter than they could have on their own, because I captured the very essence of that moment in a single frame. Everything in that photograph is immortalized, and so it doesn’t matter if they fade away or disappear, because the photo will never let me forget what I saw, felt, and experienced.
Folded into this passion, is traveling (seeing the world and capturing it by camera), and creating cinematic scenes that make you disappear into the photo. Wether it’s capturing them as they happen, or dreaming up an image and bringing it to life by the work of my own hands and vision, I want to be enveloped in this passion each day.
There was not a day that went by this year that I didn’t make plans, wright down notes, and push myself to build the blocks that are the foundation for my future. No matter how many doubted me or told me I wouldn’t succeed, even when life seemed to get in the way, I continued to strive towards making my passion my life, and my dream a reality. I get closer every day. And I couldn’t be more proud of myself for this. Just knowing I gave it my all makes everything worth it.
I look back at this past year and see how far I’ve come, and how even though I made turns and took unexpected paths, I still moved forward and I built up creative endurance to be used each day in some way or another. And I see where I can go in the future.
All the amazing people who modeled, styled, worked and helped on set, designed, created, and became a part of my team (or creative family) made it possible for me to get this far this year. I couldn’t be more thankful to have found and befriended each and every one of you, whether we met this year or before. You have impacted my life!
And behind my face and photography, there is a most important person, so dear to my heart. Even though you might not know Josh so well, he is a part of me and my work, and is part of the essence of it all. Without him always by my side, encouraging me and doing everything he can to make my visions come to life, I most definitely wouldn’t be who I am or be where I am now. I love you, Josh. You are a part of my soul.
Ready Gypset Go is so much more than just my personal fashion blog, but a diary of my experiences and daily self expression. I have adventure in my heart and I want to take you all with me on this journey. My desire is to share the moments I discover and create, because memories and experiences are so much richer when shared with friends.
Some of my New Year’s Resolutions, which seem to keep expanding, are these:
- To go back to my roots, shoot more of what I love, and create more meaningful, cinematic photos.
- To capture more memories on video to look back at, because they bring the past to life.
- To seek out the beauty of life in each day.
- To venture out and make more friends.
- To effect more lives with encouraging words, and inspire with my photography.
- And most importantly, to hit the ground running!
Tell me how the New Year has inspired you! Do you have any resolutions or goals?
